Medina, Portage, Stark, Tuscarawas, Wayne, Holmes Counties area,
Haven of Rest Ministries is widely recognized and respected for its
work among poor, homeless, and spiritually destitute people.
Men's Day Room Ministry
The men's day room is the entry point for homeless men to begin the rehabilitation process that will lead to the stabilization and reestablishment of their lives. As the homeless come in off the streets, they find a variety of essential services available to them, including laundry, showers, and mail pick-up. In addition, there are counseling rooms where they can meet privately with Haven of Rest staff or other social service agency workers to discuss problems and needs. Classroom space is also provided for life skills training, Bible studies, and group meetings. Testimonials
South Street Ministries
South Street Ministries is a congregation serving the Summit Lake community in Akron, OH. We started out in 1997 when Duane and Lisa Crabbs and their children- following the example of Jesus- "relocated" to the neighborhood they felt called to serve. They didn't set out to start a church, but as they lived with, loved, and served their new neighbors; a congregation grew up around them. These days we meet every Sunday for worship at noon in the Summit Lake Community Center (380 W. Crosier Street, Akron), but that's just the beginning of who we are and what we do. Check out this site to find out more about us. Better yet, come find out for yourself; we're a "church without walls, where the doors are always open!" Instead of hanging out on the streets, the young people hang out at South Street, playing basketball, getting tutoring, using computers, working on bicycles in the bike shop. Testimonials
Volunteers of America
Veterans Resource Center
Volunteers of America is committed to ending homelessness for those
already on the street and preventing others from becoming homeless.
Volunteers of America provides a wide array of well-designed and
managed services to meet the specific needs of homeless
veterans. Nearly 154,000 veterans are homeless on any given
night and twice as many experience homelessness during a year.
Right now, the number of homeless Vietnam era veterans is greater
than the number of service persons who died during that war.
Already, veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are appearing
in the homeless population.

oppressed, forgotten, and hurting of ALL faiths. LMM began nearly
40 years ago with the support of local Lutheran churches and
national church organizations. In the late 1960's, Rev. Richard
Sering was "called to serve" a grassroots effort that became known
as Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry
